The Social Skills Unit Special Education Teacher is responsible for educating all students substantially and effectively by demonstrating professional leadership, assessing and communicating learning, demonstrating content knowledge, reflecting on teaching and learning, designing and planning instruction, collaborating with colleagues, parents, and others, creating and maintaining a learning climate, engaging in professional development, implementing and managing instruction, and demonstrating the implementation of technology. This role involves adhering to all rules, regulations, policies, and administrative guidelines set by the Board of Education and the School SBDM Council. The teacher will maintain accurate records, guide the learning process towards curriculum goals with clear objectives and assessments, and meet assigned classes as scheduled. They will plan a program of study tailored to individual student needs, interests, and abilities, and create a conducive learning environment. Preparation for classes is essential, and precautions must be taken to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. The teacher will be available for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when needed and strive to improve professional competence and collaboration. Attendance at staff meetings, service on committees, and adherence to principal and Board of Education directives are expected. Promoting positive public relations, promptly reporting absences, remaining at school during the entire school day unless excused, maintaining a professional appearance, incorporating technology, and maintaining regular attendance are also key responsibilities. The teacher must adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics.
