The Special Education Teacher will provide special education, pre-vocational and daily living training to dually diagnosed adolescents receiving services in Laradon’s School. The role involves promoting a learning environment where all students thrive, with classroom instruction tailored to students’ strengths and needs and preparing students for their next transition. The position requires physical presence in school to perform job functions, maintaining regular and punctual attendance, and driving students as necessary. The teacher will provide direct supervision and leadership for classroom paraprofessionals, work collaboratively with other professionals, complete required documentation, and maintain records. Additionally, the role involves actively engaging parents, guardians, and community agencies in the IEP process, developing and maintaining data collection systems for IEP goals, and serving as a special education case manager leading the multidisciplinary IEP process, facilitating IEP meetings, and meeting required timelines. The teacher will also provide specialized instruction services based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in both group and individual settings, including skill acquisition plans to teach functional skills.
