About The Position

This position is for a Special Education Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing at the Education and Administration Center. The role involves designing and delivering learning experiences for students, organizing and facilitating the learning process using evidence-based instructional practices and technology, and participating in a community of learning to improve student success. The teacher will consistently evaluate student progress, make adjustments, and communicate progress. This position is eligible for an annual stipend of $4,000 for Special Education Teachers. The role requires a Colorado Teaching License endorsed as Special Education Specialist - Deaf / Hard of Hearing. The teacher must demonstrate knowledge of content, central concepts, and evidence-based instructional practices, as well as pedagogical expertise. Developing and implementing lessons that connect to various content areas, emphasizing literacy and mathematical practices, and engaging students with diverse needs are key responsibilities. Ensuring student supervision, establishing a safe and inclusive learning environment, and fostering a predictable learning environment with acceptable student behavior are also crucial. The teacher will instruct, assess, and differentiate for all students' needs, integrate technology, link professional growth to goals, maintain accurate records, and manage materials. Planning and delivering effective instruction aligned with Colorado Academic Standards and the organized plan of instruction is required. Providing opportunities for teamwork and leadership, responding to safety/crisis situations, and adapting to a dynamic environment are also part of the role. Supervision of volunteers and paraprofessionals may be required. The use of technology for professional responsibilities, instruction, data interpretation, and student learning is expected, along with effective conflict resolution and reflection on professional practice to improve teaching and learning. Formal and informal methods will be used to assess student learning, provide feedback, and inform planning. Collaboration with families and significant adults for the benefit of students is also a key aspect of the position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (Baccalaureate) degree (e.g., B.A., A.B., B.S.)
  • Meets subject, grade level, and/or content area qualifications consistent with Colorado Department of Education and Academy District 20 requirements
  • Colorado Teaching License: Initial - Colorado Department of Education
  • Colorado Teaching License: Professional - Colorado Department of Education
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and to learn functionality of new equipment and systems
