Special Education Teacher: Mild Interventions Cedar Hall/Lodge
About The Position
The special education teacher is responsible for planning and implementing goals of the students Individual Education Program (IEP). This role involves instructing individuals and groups in special education skill areas, planning curriculum, lessons, and special education programs, and evaluating and monitoring student progress. The teacher will also prepare report cards, educational records, and maintain communication with parents/caregivers. This position requires maintaining the physical environment of the classroom and assuming responsibility for the development and implementation of specific objectives to meet the needs of each individual student, while adhering to legal requirements dictated by state and federal statutes. The teacher will supervise students and special education assistants for instructional purposes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- Valid teaching certificate with appropriate special education endorsement.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, clients, customers, and/or the general public.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to apply financial concepts and statistical inferences.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to use available information and develop long-term and short-term goals and objectives.
- Ability to interact with public and other staff is required.
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.

Responsibilities
