Special Education Teacher - Middle School
About The Position
SchoolHouse Staffing is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a middle school assignment on Chicago's South Side for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time, W-2 position with a pay scale of $45.00-$55.00 per hour, working Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week, at a single partner school building. The selected candidate will be employed by SchoolHouse Staffing, which handles payroll, taxes, benefits, and HR support. The role involves serving as a case manager, writing and implementing IEPs, delivering specialized instruction, collecting data, and collaborating with various stakeholders, all while complying with district, state, and IDEA requirements.
Requirements
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) endorsement, or eligibility to obtain one before the assignment start date
- Ability to pass a background check and meet all district onboarding and health requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Responsibilities
- Serve as the case manager for an assigned middle school caseload
- Write, implement, and monitor IEPs, and lead IEP meetings
- Deliver specialized instruction in resource, co-taught, and/or self-contained settings
- Collect and report progress-monitoring data
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and school administration
- Comply with all district, state, and IDEA requirements for documentation and timelines
