About The Position

This is a long-term substitute position for a Special Education Teacher, focusing on students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), or Emotional/Behavioral Disorders (EBD). The role involves providing special education services, collaborating with staff and parents, and teaching students skills for behavior management and mainstream integration. The assignment is from approximately August 31, 2026, to October 9, 2026, with 7.5 hours per day. This is a benefit-eligible position.

Requirements

Current Minnesota Special Ed license in ASD, SLD, or EBD.
Successful background check required.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching.
Ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior.
Ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents.
Calm demeanor and passion for working with kids.
Ability to communicate effectively with school staff and parents.

Responsibilities

Provide special education services to students.
Work closely with teachers, admin, and support staff to teach students skills and strategies for managing behaviors and working towards using strategies in the mainstream setting.
Provide an ideal, positive learning environment.
Instruct students in individual or group sessions.
Develop, translate, and integrate lesson plans.
Establish positive relationships.
