Special Education Teacher/ Inclusion Specialist
About The Position
The Contract Special Education Assessment Teacher conducts comprehensive special education evaluations to determine student eligibility for special education services and support appropriate educational programming. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the assessor administers standardized assessments, interprets results, prepares legally compliant reports, and participates in eligibility and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. This is an as-needed contract position with flexible scheduling based on assessment needs and referral volume. Compensation is provided on a contracted or per-assessment basis, as agreed upon.
Requirements
- Valid Special Education Teaching Credential or equivalent state certification.
- Authorization to conduct special education assessments in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience administering and interpreting standardized educational assessments.
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and applicable state special education regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

- Previous experience conducting special education assessments in a school setting.
- Experience writing legally compliant assessment reports and participating in IEP meetings.
- Familiarity with a variety of standardized assessment tools and data-based decision-making practices.

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational and educational assessments for students referred for special education evaluation.
- Review educational records, intervention data, and relevant background information.
- Administer, score, and interpret standardized and curriculum-based assessments.
- Complete assessment reports that meet federal, state, and local special education requirements.
- Determine eligibility in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members.
- Participate in IEP, eligibility, and multidisciplinary team meetings to present evaluation findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with administrators, general education teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families throughout the assessment process.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with timelines and procedural safeguards.
- Communicate assessment results clearly and professionally to families and school personnel.
- Stay current with special education laws, assessment practices, and professional standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with applicable laws and district policies.
