About The Position

This is a 10-month position for a Special Education Teacher Assistant in an Adapted program at PVES. The role requires assisting a Special Education Teacher, specifically in an adapted 1:1 capacity. A key requirement for those hired in Secondary Adapted programs is to be on the RCPS approved driving list.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Development Certificate (GED).
• Ability to develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward disabled students.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others in a positive manner.
• Willingness to learn specialized instructional/management techniques with disabled students, as needed.
• Willingness to seek and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator (AED)/First Aid certification.
• Ability to communicate and develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of college
• 12 undergraduate credits in math/English
• Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
