About The Position
This is a 10-month position for a Special Education Teacher Assistant, adapted for the 2026-2027 school year. Special Education Teacher Assistants hired in Secondary Adapted programs are required to be on the RCPS approved driving list. The role involves developing and maintaining an empathetic attitude toward disabled students, working cooperatively with others, learning specialized instructional/management techniques, and seeking/maintaining CPR/AED/First Aid certification. The ability to communicate and develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff is essential.
Requirements
- Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited high school or General Education Development Certificate (GED).
- Must be on the RCPS approved driving list (for Secondary Adapted programs).
Nice To Haves
- Two years of college.
- 12 undergraduate credits in math/English.
- Passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward disabled students.
- Work cooperatively with others in a positive manner.
- Learn specialized instructional/management techniques with disabled students, as needed.
- Seek and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR)/Automated External Defibrillator(AED)/First Aid certification.
- Communicate and develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff.
