About The Position

AHRC New York City is seeking a Special Education Preschool Teacher Assistant for Staten Island Preparatory. This role involves assisting the teacher in daily activities within a preschool Special Education classroom. The assistant will participate in implementing daily schedules and lesson plans for each student, aligning activities with NYS Prekindergarten Foundation for the Common Core Standards or NYS Common Core Standards. These plans should be informed by authentic assessment data and advance school readiness goals, reflecting objectives from IEPs. The role requires demonstrating appropriate teaching techniques, including prompting, pacing, and utilizing reinforcement strategies, while understanding and managing potential behavioral issues. The assistant will also implement strategies to facilitate concept generalization and promote socialization.

Requirements

NYS Teaching Assistant Certification Levels I-III
AA or 60 college credits | BA or MA.
We will accept those in process of their certification.

Responsibilities

Assist the teacher in daily activities in a preschool Special Education classroom.
