About The Position

AHRC New York City is seeking a School Aide for Staten Island Preparatory in Tottenville. This is a part-time role, Monday-Friday, with hours from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M. or 2:30 P.M. It is a non-benefit role within a 10-month program that includes a 30-day summer session. The school is located at 23 Summit Street, Staten Island, NY 10307.

Requirements

• HS Diploma required.

• Candidates with experience working with students with disabilities are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Teacher/Behavior Trainer, follow the daily activity schedule/lesson plans and support and guide the implementation of a student’s objectives as indicated in his/her IEP.
• Provide direct care services to student as needed, including toileting, dressing and feeding, in an instructional manner so as to provide the basis of future independent student action.
• Participate in the arrival and dismissal of student as needed.
• Participate in activities outside the classroom when necessary (e.g. playground, field trips, gym etc.); interact with the student; and address the student’s safety and physical needs.
• Understand the nature of the student’s disability and its impact on the student’s performance; be familiar with the student’s IEP objectives including the educational purpose and methodology; be familiar with the student’s medical alerts and EPOP (Enhanced Protective Oversight Plan).
