About The Position

The Special Education Teacher Assistant - Tier 3 will provide support to students with special needs in a classroom and school environment. This role involves assisting students with personal needs, implementing behavioral management programs, and maintaining composure during stressful situations. The position may require physical flexibility and a willingness to be trained in various health-related interventions. The location and hours may vary based on student and program needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Demonstrated understanding of student needs.
Ability and desire to work with special needs students.
Ability to assist student(s) with multiple challenges in the classroom/school environment.
Ability to follow through with prescribed behavioral management or instructional programs.
Ability to maintain composure and communication during stressful situations.
May need good physical flexibility such as ability to run, walk, lift and/or respond to student physical needs.
Willingness to be trained in area(s) of student health related awareness and intervention.
Willingness to accept assignment at multiple and potentially differing sites and locations depending on individual student needs as determined by the District.
Ability to work with blood testing, insulin, ports, suctioning, diastat, medication dispensing, etc.
Willingness to be assigned as general help during "down-periods".
Maintain various records and file, parent contact may be required.
Good attendance required.

Responsibilities

Provide physical flexibility such as running, walking, lifting, and responding to student physical needs.
Be trained in areas of student health-related awareness and intervention.
Accept assignment at multiple and potentially differing sites and locations.
Assist with blood testing, insulin, ports, suctioning, diastat, medication dispensing, etc.
Provide general help during "down-periods".
Maintain various records and files.
Parent contact may be required.
Provide wheelchair assistance.
