This is a Special Education Teacher Assistant position focused on supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role involves assisting students with their personal needs, including hygiene, toileting, and dressing, as well as supporting them with various challenges in the classroom and school environment. The assistant will follow prescribed behavioral management and instructional programs, maintain composure during stressful situations, and may require physical flexibility for tasks such as running, walking, lifting, and responding to student needs. Training in student health-related awareness and intervention will be provided. The position may involve assignments at multiple sites and locations based on student needs, and the assistant may be required to provide general help during downtime. Record keeping and parent contact may also be part of the role. The ideal candidate will be child-centered, adaptable, patient, respectful, maintain confidentiality, and possess a calm demeanor with the ability to focus amidst distractions. Wheelchair assistance may be required. Good attendance is essential. The work year is based on student attendance, and the daily hours are 7 hours per day, though hours and location may change based on student and program needs.
