AHRC New York City is seeking a School Aide for the Brooklyn Blue Feather program located at 2335 Gerritsen Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11229. This is a part-time/per-diem position with hours from 8:45 AM to 2:45 PM, Monday through Friday. The program runs for 10 months with an additional 30-day summer session. The role involves supporting students with disabilities under the guidance of a Teacher/Behavior Trainer, assisting with daily activities, implementing student objectives from their IEPs, and providing direct care such as toileting, dressing, and feeding in an instructional manner to foster future independence. The aide will also participate in student arrival and dismissal, accompany students on activities outside the classroom (e.g., playground, field trips, gym), and address their safety and physical needs. A key aspect of the role is understanding the student's disability and its impact on performance, being familiar with IEP objectives, educational methodologies, medical alerts, and the Enhanced Protective Oversight Plan (EPOP). This is a non-benefit position.
