About The Position

Devereux California is seeking an experienced and compassionate Special Education Program Manager to lead and strengthen our special education services. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by guiding dedicated educators, ensuring regulatory excellence, and advancing educational, social, and emotional outcomes for students with complex needs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in special education or related field.
  • Professional license in the state of California.
  • California Department of Education certification as a supervisor of special education, pupil services, principal or education administrator and/or licensure as a clinical social worker, psychologist, marriage and family therapist, educational psychologist, or professional clinical counselor.
  • At least five years of experience in an educational setting working with individuals with emotional and behavioral needs and/or other special education populations, with two of those years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Experience with data collection/analyzing platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to established guidelines.
  • Valid driver's license must be maintained.
  • Knowledge of state-specific policy, adherence to IDEA, and competency in IEPs, positive behavior support strategies, classroom management, and MTSS/PBIS/RTI.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing and promoting the Devereux California Educational Programming, specifically the special education classrooms.
  • Provide supervision to professionals and instructional assistants to achieve the educational, social, and emotional goals of the students.
  • Support the professional development of staff by creating, developing, directing, maintaining, and evaluating the range of direct and support services provided to students.
  • Foster and maintain successful relationships with education-based agencies at the state and local level, supervisees and consultees in the programs, and colleagues in the education services division.
