Special Education Paraprofessional (Temporary)
About The Position
The Paraprofessional provides individual and small-group instruction for students with special and typical learning needs in general education settings, including classrooms, recess, and lunch areas. The role works under the supervision of a certificated Education Specialist, who provides weekly oversight, training, and direction. Under the direction of the special education case manager, the Paraprofessional supports instruction, student progress monitoring, and behavior support. The role is temporary and pays $23–$27 an hour, with compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Requirements
- At least two years of college or a passing score on Rocketship’s Paraprofessional Assessment.
- Ability to work as a team player; be detail-oriented and resourceful; and manage responsibilities with confidence and discretion.
- Flexibility and comfort working in a start-up environment.
- Interpersonal skills, including tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Passion for working with young children.

Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group instruction for students with special education needs under the direction of the special education case manager.
- Collaborate with students’ case managers to assess progress toward goals and communicate progress to case managers and general education teachers.
- Implement behavior management strategies during individual and small-group instruction to support student engagement.
- Support implementation of behavior intervention plans developed by students’ case managers.
- Record data for individualized instructional programs and positive behavior support plans.
