About The Position

National Heritage Online Academy – North Carolina is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to provide instructional and behavioral assistance to students. The role involves supporting students in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or 504-behavior plan, working 1:1 or in small groups. The position is committed to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially. The paraprofessional will implement result-driven curriculum and instruction designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from their disability, which may include resource room, inclusion, and/or pullout services. Attendance at professional development, specialized trainings, and IEP meetings is required, as is assisting with compliance documentation.

Requirements

• Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
• Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modifications.

Responsibilities

• Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance for students in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or their 504-behavior plan as directed by the special education team. Support can be provided 1:1 or in small groups.
• Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
• Implement result-driven curriculum and instruction specially designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from his/her disability such as, resource room, inclusion and/or pullout services.
• Attend professional development, specialized trainings and IEP meetings with special education team and parents as required.
• Assist with the required compliance documentation.
