Special Education Paraprofessional at Jonquil Preparatory Academy
About The Position
Jonquil Preparatory Academy is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to provide instructional and behavioral assistance to students. This role involves supporting students in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or 504-behavior plan, working with the special education team. The position is committed to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially. The paraprofessional will implement curriculum and instruction designed to meet the unique needs of each student with a disability, offering support in resource rooms, inclusion settings, and pullout services. Attendance at professional development, specialized trainings, and IEP meetings is required, as is assisting with compliance documentation.
Requirements
- Must meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
- Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
- Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modifications.
Responsibilities
- Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance for students in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or their 504-behavior plan as directed by the special education team. Support can be provided 1:1 or in small groups.
- Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
- Implement result-driven curriculum and instruction specially designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from his/her disability such as, resource room, inclusion and/or pullout services.
- Attend professional development, specialized trainings and IEP meetings with special education team and parents as required.
- Assist with the required compliance documentation.
