About The Position

DSST Public Schools is hiring Special Education Paraprofessionals for the 2026-2027 school year, with an immediate start preferred. These full-time, benefits-eligible, non-exempt, in-person positions support students with disabilities in middle school and high school settings across multiple locations. The role involves assisting with educational, behavioral, social-emotional, physical, and daily living needs of students. Paraprofessionals may work in Mild/Moderate settings, providing 1:1 support to students primarily in general education classrooms, or in Center Based Settings, working as part of a team to provide 1:1 or small group support/instruction to students in a center program setting. The position offers a competitive salary range of $40,000-$49,500 based on experience, with a relocation stipend available for those moving over 75 miles from Denver. DSST partners with Reach University to offer free bachelor's degrees to eligible staff.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Demonstrate “In-Field” Status to be a Paraprofessional within 30 days of your start date.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation of accommodations and modifications for one or multiple students.
  • Assist with the implementation of behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports.
  • Assist teachers in developing lesson plans, material preparation, and collecting data for Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Collect data related to academics and behavior.
  • Maintain a structured, organized, and routine-oriented learning environment.
  • Assist the general education teacher with students needing extra support.
  • Exhibit clear communication skills to support the center program team and school community.
  • Communicate daily with families.
  • Maintain confidentiality with student records.
  • Facilitate interactions between students and staff, and students and their peers.
  • Assist with a variety of assessments that measure progress towards learning outcomes and behaviors.
  • Provide extended time to students for assessments.
  • Assist in the implementation of skill replacement curriculum focused on inclusion, behavior skill development, and social-communication strategies.
  • Reflect and seek to improve learning and development.
  • Participate in professional development programs including Applied Behavior Analysis, Functional Behavior Assessment, Behavior Intervention plans, social cognition, and executive function skills.
  • Lead and participate in best practice sessions and peer coaching.
  • Attend conferences.
  • Additional duties as assigned such as supporting student recruitment, running a small group advisory class, after school tutoring.
