About The Position

As a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Assistant) at AMS, you will be crucial in supporting teachers and ensuring students have the necessary tools for success. This role involves working alongside skilled educators to provide individualized and small-group support, assist with classroom management, and cultivate a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and successful completion of the paraprofessional exam, OR Associate’s degree (or higher).
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or youth-focused setting.
  • Passion for working with students in diverse and underserved communities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with adults and children.
  • Patience, adaptability, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Reliability and a strong sense of responsibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

  • Support lead Teachers in delivering instruction by assisting with lesson activities, classroom management, and transitions.
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce skills, reteach concepts, and support individualized learning plans.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and engagement.
  • Substitute for lead teachers as needed to ensure learning continues uninterrupted.
  • Prepare instructional materials, set up classroom resources, and assist with grading or documentation as directed.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of students.
  • Model professionalism, respect, and high expectations in every interaction with students, staff, and families.
