About The Position

Pembroke Academy, a National Blue Ribbon School located in Detroit, MI, is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students in grades Young5-8. This role involves providing instructional and behavioral assistance to students based on their individual education plans (IEP) and/or 504-behavior plans. Requirements

• Must meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
• Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
• Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modifications.

Responsibilities

• Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or their 504-behavior plan as directed by the special education team.
• Support students individually or in small groups.
• Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
• Implement result-driven curriculum and instruction designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from his/her disability, such as, resource room, inclusion and/or pullout services.
• Attend professional development, specialized trainings and IEP meetings with special education team and parents as required.
• Assist with the required compliance documentation.
