Special Education Paraprofessional at Foundations Academy
About The Position
Foundations Academy, located in Brighton, Colorado, serves students in grades K–8. The Special Education Paraprofessional supports students with disabilities by providing instructional and behavioral assistance in accordance with individual education plans (IEPs) and/or 504 behavior plans, as directed by the special education team. Support may be provided one-on-one or in small groups. The role includes implementing specially designed instruction to meet students’ individual needs through services such as resource room, inclusion, and pullout support. The paraprofessional is expected to support the whole student academically, morally, and socially; attend professional development, specialized trainings, and IEP meetings as required; and assist with compliance documentation. The position requires meeting state requirements for a Title 1 paraprofessional.
Requirements
- Meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
- Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
- Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.

- Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or behavior modifications.
Responsibilities
- Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance according to students’ IEPs and/or 504 behavior plans, as directed by the special education team.
- Provide student support one-on-one or in small groups.
- Support students’ academic, moral, and social development.
- Implement curriculum and instruction designed to meet students’ disability-related needs, including resource room, inclusion, and/or pullout services.
- Attend professional development, specialized trainings, and IEP meetings with the special education team and parents as required.
- Assist with required compliance documentation.
