The job of the paraprofessional is to support the teacher-classroom in the development, implementation and monitoring of a program designed to enhance the success of students academically and behaviorally. General Expectations include supporting the mission and value of Joplin Schools, enforcing Board policies and regulations, supervising students, obeying safety rules, caring for school property, maintaining professional relationships, communicating effectively, providing excellent customer service, complying with privacy rights, reacting to change productively, participating in professional development, conducting official business professionally, arriving to work on time, maintaining accurate records, and solving practical problems. The paraprofessional will also demonstrate communication and collaborative skills, implement instructional strategies, perform duties to support skills being learned, reinforce or reteach skills, provide support for students' educational, behavioral, and physical needs, prepare for classroom instruction, implement teaching techniques, implement behavior strategies and interventions, teach behavior-related skills, provide behavior interventions and classroom management strategies, respond to student needs, remove barriers to learning, and implement modifications and accommodations. Other duties as assigned are also part of the role.
