About The Position

The School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a Lecturer in Special Education. The main responsibility for this position will be teaching undergraduate special education related courses to future teachers. This is a full-time benefit eligible position with an anticipated start date of August 2026. The salary for this position is $45,000 - $48,000 per academic year, commensurate with experience, education, and field of study.

Requirements

Master’s degree or higher in Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field.
At least one-year full-time special education related teaching experience within a K-12 school setting.
A strong commitment to undergraduate education for pre-service teachers.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with colleagues from the School of Education, across campus, and partner K-12 schools.

Responsibilities

Teaching a variety of undergraduate courses within the special education minor such as historical & current topics in special education, positive classroom environments, methods in literacy & language instruction for students with disabilities, and strategies for effective inclusion & collaboration along with the introduction to special education course for all education majors.
Utilize current best practices in teacher education to support undergraduate student learning in the classroom.
Complete course embedded assessments of program student learning outcomes.
Effectively interact and collaborate with faculty and staff colleagues within the School of Education, across campus, and in partner PK-12 schools to complete program tasks and goals.
Complete relevant trainings related to teaching.
