About The Position

KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School is seeking dedicated and culturally competent Special Education Inclusion Lead Teachers who are passionate about student growth and achievement. This role involves supporting students through inclusive teaching, small group pull-outs, and co-teaching/co-planning in core classes. The Special Education Inclusion Lead Teacher will collaborate with homeroom/Lead Teachers to provide accommodations, modifications, and resources, ensuring all students have access to the curriculum. Responsibilities include writing and managing IEP paperwork and meetings, communicating with students and families, and advocating for students. This position is ideal for flexible and creative teachers committed to serving high-need students and mastering best practices for content mastery. While prior experience with Special Education laws and paperwork is a plus, training and support will be provided by the regional Special Education team. Special Education Teachers are empowered to utilize their expertise to ensure student success.

  • 2+ years of full-time teaching experience (in Special Education preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lead or co-lead in a classroom, potentially leading independently, co-teaching, covering classes, or stepping into a lead role.
  • Ensure all children feel affirmed, valued, and challenged daily.
  • Create and foster a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Support the co-creation and internalization of rigorous and engaging units and daily lesson plans with the homeroom/Lead Teacher.
  • Set specific, ambitious growth goals for students on caseload and leverage resources to ensure they are met.
  • Conduct ongoing progress monitoring of student progress towards IEP goals.
  • Utilize special education best practices to execute engaging instruction, including accommodations, modifications, monitoring of extra time, and small group instruction/pull-out.
  • Infuse core values into lessons and school practices, implementing school-wide student culture systems and positive classroom management strategies.
  • Regularly analyze student work to support student-specific modifications and accommodations.
  • Support in maintaining accurate student grades/records and communicating regularly with students and families about growth and progress.
  • Provide feedback and support to homeroom/Lead Teacher regarding curriculum and instructional best practices for students on caseload.
  • Build strong working relationships with homeroom/Lead Teacher for effective collaboration on curriculum, instruction, and classroom management.
  • Obtain required MTEL and SEI endorsements within the first year of employment with financial support and free study support from KIPP MA.
  • Participate in school-wide and individual professional development, including pre-service training.
  • Take ownership of professional development and seek feedback from a coach.
  • Perform necessary support duties, including coverage, bus, lunch, and dismissal duties.
  • Develop strong relationships with families through school events and consistent phone calls.
  • Offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues.
  • Collaborate with grade level and content teams to update and advocate for students on caseload.
  • Write, lead, and manage IEP and 504 paperwork and meetings.
  • Maintain dependable attendance according to the school calendar.

  • Participate and engage in regional professional development and community events.
  • Collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make judgments and decisions.
  • Utilize self-awareness, flexibility, and emotional intelligence to support students with diverse needs.
  • Apply interpersonal and self-management skills to support behavioral and emotional needs of students and build relationships.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and others.
  • Demonstrate physical mobility to execute duties effectively, including kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead.
  • Possess sufficient physical strength to periodically lift and/or carry 20 pounds and physically restrain a student in an emergency.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity for repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and operating computer/office equipment.
  • Engage in other duties as assigned to promote a positive and safe learning environment.
