About The Position

KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School is seeking talented, committed, and culturally competent Special Education Inclusion Lead Teachers who are passionate about ensuring all students are growing and achieving. This role involves supporting students through inclusive teaching and small group pull-outs, often co-teaching and co-planning in Math and ELA. The Special Education Inclusion Lead Teacher will collaborate with the homeroom/Lead Teacher to plan and instruct lessons, provide accommodations and modifications, and ensure all students have access to the curriculum. Responsibilities include writing and managing IEP paperwork and meetings, communicating with students and families about progress, and advocating for students. This role is ideal for flexible and creative teachers passionate about serving high-need students and who are excited by the challenge of content mastery through best practices. While prior experience with Special Education laws and paperwork is a bonus, training and assistance will be provided by the regional Special Education team. Special Education Teachers are empowered to use their expertise to ensure student success.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of full-time teaching experience (in Special Education preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Computer literacy and baseline familiarity with Google Suite.
  • Pass Criminal Background Checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Special Education laws and paperwork.
  • Special Education licensure.
  • Preferred: Obtain special education licensure as soon as qualified to do so.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lead or co-lead in a classroom, potentially leading independently, co-teaching, covering classes, or stepping into a lead role later in the year.
  • Ensure all children feel affirmed, valued, and challenged daily.
  • Create and foster a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Support the co-creation and internalization of rigorous and engaging units and daily lesson plans with the homeroom/Lead Teacher.
  • Set specific, ambitious growth goals for students on caseload and leverage all necessary resources, including student advocacy, to ensure they meet them.
  • Conduct ongoing progress monitoring of student progress towards IEP goals.
  • Utilize special education best practices to execute engaging instruction, including accommodations, modifications, monitoring of extra time, and small group instruction/pull-out.
  • Infuse core values into lessons and school practices, implementing school-wide student culture systems and positive classroom management strategies.
  • Regularly analyze student work to support student-specific modifications and accommodations.
  • Support in maintaining accurate student grades/records and strong communication lines with students and families regarding student growth and progress.
  • Provide feedback and support to the homeroom/Lead Teacher regarding curriculum and instructional best practices for students on caseload.
  • Build a strong working relationship with the homeroom/Lead Teacher for effective collaboration on curriculum, instruction, and classroom management.
  • Obtain required MTEL and SEI endorsements within the first year of employment with financial support from KIPP MA.
  • Participate in school-wide and individual professional development, including pre-service training.
  • Take ownership of professional development and seek feedback from a coach.
  • Perform necessary support duties, including coverage, bus, lunch, and dismissal duties.
  • Develop strong relationships with families through school events and consistent communication.
  • Offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues.
  • Collaborate with grade level and content teams to update and advocate for students on caseload.
  • Write, lead, and manage IEP and 504 paperwork and meetings.
  • Maintain dependable attendance according to the school calendar.
  • Embody KIPP MA’s Code of Conduct.
  • Participate and engage in regional professional development and community events.
  • Collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make judgments and decisions.
  • Utilize self-awareness, flexibility, and emotional intelligence to support students with diverse needs.
  • Use interpersonal and self-management skills to support behavioral and emotional needs of students and build relationships.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, families, and others.
  • Demonstrate physical mobility to execute duties effectively, including kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead.
  • Possess sufficient physical strength to periodically lift and/or carry 20 pounds of materials or supplies and physically restrain a student in an emergency situation.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity for repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and operating a computer and office equipment.
  • Engage in other duties as assigned to promote a positive and safe learning environment.
