About The Position

The Wachusett Regional School District is seeking a Special Education Coordinator committed to enriching the lives of its student population. Requirements

  • Certified in Special Education
  • Possess a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Possess at least two years of successful teaching in some field of special education
  • Possess at least five years of successful administrative experience in the field of Special Education
  • Possess other qualities of academic, professional, and personal experience that the Superintendent may specify

Responsibilities

  • Attend all BID Best Interest Determination Meetings
  • Identify the LEA by submitting LEA clarifications
  • Collect comprehensive school records
  • Attend IEP, reevaluation, and other meetings to best support students educationally
  • Serve as the programmatic LEA for the district
  • Work to enroll students locally or seek appropriate placements based on IEPs
  • Continually act as case manager for students and interact with agencies that support students living in the group home
  • Coordinate and assist in budget preparation for assigned areas
  • Supervise and evaluate staff as assigned
  • Coordinate special education evaluation process including school screening and evaluation teams, and preschool screening process
  • Participate in out of district placements as directed by the Director
  • Screen and arrange outside and independent referral and evaluations, including contracted therapy services
  • Consult with school staff and parents on student performance, behavioral, special education and program effectiveness issues
  • Conduct home visits, work with parents, mediate parent/school problems, and screen cases for alternative programming
  • Collaborates with the Director on assessing the effectiveness of special education procedures, programming as they impact delivery of services and cost effectiveness
  • Conduct other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Director of Special Education and Student Services
