About The Position

The Special Education Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the district maintains compliance with all special education timelines and procedural requirements. This position tracks referrals, evaluations, reevaluations, and other critical due process timelines, while serving as a liaison between teachers, special education supervisors, and related staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of required processes.

Requirements

  • Valid state certification/licensure in Special Education required
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets and office software (e.g., Google Workspace or Microsoft Office)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education preferred
  • Knowledge of special education processes, timelines, and compliance requirements preferred
  • Experience with data tracking, compliance monitoring, or administrative support preferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and track all special education timelines including referrals, evaluations, reevaluations, eligibility, and IEP processes
  • Maintain an organized system for documenting and monitoring compliance deadlines
  • Notify teachers, special education supervisors, and relevant staff of upcoming and overdue timelines
  • Communicate regularly with teachers and special education supervisors to ensure compliance requirements are being met
  • Assist in coordinating evaluation and reevaluation processes to ensure timelines are followed
  • Maintain accurate records of student referrals, evaluation dates, consent, and eligibility determinations
  • Generate compliance reports and provide updates to administration as requested
  • Support preparation for state monitoring, audits, and due process reviews
  • Review documentation for completeness and compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with school staff to resolve timeline concerns or compliance issues
  • Assist in training staff on due process procedures and timeline expectations
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA guidelines
  • Perform general clerical duties such as data entry, filing, and correspondence
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Education Director or designee
