About The Position

This position is responsible for developing, instructing, and collecting data on students in the areas of education, behavior, and social skills with the goal of reintegrating them into a public school campus. The role involves implementing individual educational goals, assessing student progress, and maintaining accurate records. The Special Education Co-Taught Math teacher will create a conducive learning environment, employ various instructional techniques, and strive for professional competence. This is a nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract position (190 days) with a benefits package.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Current Arkansas certification in Special Education 7-12 with Highly Qualified Status in Mathematics.
  • Evidence of successful experience in working with students at risk.
  • Evidence of ability to work well with others.
  • Experience in implementing non-aversive behavioral programs and social skills training.
  • Evidence of strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Evidence of ability to implement Individual Education Plans.
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  • Ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period.
  • Ability to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Mathematics 7-12 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, instruct, and collect data on students in education, behavior, and social skills.
  • Reintegrate students to a public school campus.
  • Implement individual educational goals and objectives.
  • Collect data on students’ progress.
  • Meet with classes as assigned.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques.
  • Assess student accomplishments and provide progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records.
  • Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develop and maintain reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal/supervisor.
