About The Position

This role is for the 2026-2027 School Year and requires an educator committed to Democracy Prep's mission of college success and authentic civic engagement. The ideal candidate is an organized manager with strong time management and follow-up skills, capable of taking initiative and handling multiple projects concurrently. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for interacting with various stakeholders. A Bachelor's degree and proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google applications are required, along with Special Education EC-12 Teacher Certification and 1-3 years of teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting, updating, and managing IEP documents, including conducting annual reviews and initial re-evaluations.
  • Coordinating ARD/504 meetings, scheduling services, and ensuring all stakeholders follow the IEP.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for parents, general education teachers, and paraprofessionals regarding student progress and accommodations.
  • Collecting and analyzing student data to track progress toward IEP goals.
  • Maintaining organized, confidential, and accurate student records.
  • Serving as primary case manager to students with disabilities, including development of the IEP via evaluator and stakeholder input, as well as delivery of instructional services when applicable.
  • Collaborating with staff to plan instructional services in alignment with state standards and the students' IEPs.
  • Delivering instruction in co-teach or resource settings to fulfill instructional service minutes.
  • Working with the Special Education clerk to schedule IEP meetings in accordance with mandated timelines.
  • Ensuring compliance with Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) both in terms of documentation and fidelity to mandated services.
  • Communicating with families and service providers.
  • Providing support and guidance to all school personnel on best practices for special education scholars, including interventions, scheduling, behavior support, data analysis, and enrichment.
  • Staying aware of current academic services in place for special education scholars, including interventions, tutoring, frequently used in-class accommodations, modifications and modified schedules.
  • Providing guidance, training, and professional development to school staff on special education instructional practices.
  • Ensuring teachers are utilizing best practices and implementing effective and appropriate curricula, in tandem with the network Academic Collaboration Team Managers.
  • Reviewing data to ensure that students receive targeted instruction or intervention and are closely monitored over time to determine if these students need additional support and interventions.
  • Updating and maintaining all special education data tracking systems to align with Democracy Prep’s data management processes.
