About The Position

The Teacher is responsible for delivering instruction, implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and ensuring compliance with all instructional, behavioral, therapeutic, and safety protocols. The Teacher will design and modify curriculum, document student progress, and oversee staff and instructional supports in accordance with school policies, Minimum Standards, and applicable regulations. Responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues to support students’ functional academic, behavioral, motor, communication, and daily living skills development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or documented equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and compliance requirements related to special education.
  • Ability to implement IEP goals, instructional accommodations, and data collection procedures with fidelity.
  • Ability to manage student behavior using approved interventions and crisis-response protocols.
  • Ability to supervise, train, and direct Teacher Assistants in compliance with school standards.
  • Proficient in organizational, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with technology, adaptive equipment, and assistive technology.
  • Ability to produce accurate and timely records, progress reports, and required documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid teaching certificate or equivalent coursework (minimum 12 hours in subject-area coursework).
  • Experience with curriculum development, instructional compliance, and student documentation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child development and instructional methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and implement instructional plans aligned with IEP requirements, student ability levels, and program standards.
  • Maintain written lesson plans and documentation demonstrating compliance with curriculum and instructional guidelines.
  • Deliver instruction using approved methods, accommodations, and assistive supports appropriate to student needs.
  • Administer and document assessments to inform instruction and evaluate student progress.
  • Collaborate with therapists, staff, and administrators to determine instructional goals and ensure alignment with IEPs.
  • Plan, assign, and supervise the duties of Teacher Assistants and volunteers to ensure compliance with instructional and safety procedures.
  • Integrate technology, adaptive tools, and instructional resources as appropriate.
  • Document daily student progress, behavioral data, and instructional outcomes in accordance with reporting requirements.
  • Provide supervision and support for personal care, medical needs, feeding, and daily-living skills consistent with training and procedural guidelines.
  • Maintain communication with families through conferences, email, messages, and approved communication procedures.
  • Participate in required student-related activities, including Camp Chase, field trips, holiday events, open houses, fundraisers, accreditation activities, and community outreach, as assigned.
  • Serve as a positive, professional role model aligned with the school's mission and behavioral expectations.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment that complies with physical, social, emotional, and instructional guidelines.
  • Implement and document behavioral intervention strategies consistently and in accordance with crisis-management protocols.
  • Maintain and support the protection of students, equipment, instructional materials, and facilities, following all safety guidelines.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials, technology, and equipment needed for program compliance.
  • Maintain open, timely, and compliant communication with students, caregivers, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Present information clearly, accurately, and professionally in written and verbal communication.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings, trainings, and school events as assigned.
  • Maintain professionalism in interactions with colleagues, students, families, volunteers, and community members.
  • Comply with attendance, punctuality, and absence-notification procedures.
  • Maintain all required physical and electronic documentation, reports, and records in accordance with school policy and standards.
  • Adhere strictly to confidentiality requirements under school policy and applicable regulations.
  • Provide leadership and training to Teacher Assistants in compliance with school expectations.
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional learning through research, coursework, and participation in staff development activities.
  • Follow all school policies, procedures, and Minimum Standards, and ensure compliance among supervised staff.
  • Uphold and enforce campus policies, instructional expectations, safety protocols, and school philosophy.
  • Ensure instructional content and delivery follow established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with all school procedures and policy updates.
  • Supervise, train, and support assigned Teacher Assistants to ensure compliance with instructional, behavioral, and safety standards.
  • Provide direction, feedback, and oversight consistent with the school’s expectations and documentation procedures.
