This position is full-time, 35 hours per week. Aspire Academy, located in Gary, IN, opened in 2008 and serves over 650 K-8 students annually. Requirements

  • Ability to defuse situations and prevent escalation.
  • Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and behavior modifications.
  • Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.
  • Must meet state requirements for being a paraprofessional.
  • Must have training and experience in a research-based behavior program.
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess student abilities and provide instructional and behavioral assistance in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP) and/or their 504-behavior plan as directed by the special education team.
  • Support students 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
  • Implement result-driven curriculum and instruction designed to meet the unique needs of each student resulting from their disability.
  • Assist the team in developing a program of behavior support and assistance.
  • Implement behavior assistance program using specialized skills of a registered behavior technician.
  • Attend professional development, specialized trainings, and IEP meetings with the special education team and parents as required.
  • Assist with required compliance documentation.
