About The Position

This position involves assisting a special education or regular education teacher in all phases of classroom activities to meet the needs of special education students. The role includes supporting the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and attending to the physical needs of children, such as toileting and feeding. Regular in-person attendance is required.

Requirements

  • Must have completed at least 2 years of study (48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education; or
  • Obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
  • Met a rigorous standard of quality as determined by a formal assessment. WorkKeys Test – Applied Mathematics score of 4, Graphic Literacy score of 4 and Workplace Documents subtests score of 4.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the special education or regular education teacher in all phases of classroom activities to meet the needs of special education students.
  • Assists the special education teacher in implementing the components of each child’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Assists the special education teacher in providing for the physical needs of the children in the class such as helping with toilet procedures, assisting in feeding the children, and attending to their individual needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the special education director, teacher and/or principal.
  • Regular in person attendance.
