Great American's Special Investigation Unit (SIU) stands to prevent, detect and investigate instances of potential insurance claims fraud, collaborating with business units in the proper handling and required reporting of fraudulent claims while exhibiting high professional standards of conduct. Our SIU team is looking for a Special Claims Investigator to join their team. This individual must have the availability for up to 30% business travel, including overnight, both within their state of residence and to out of state locations. The position is fully remote. Travel is primarily by plane.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Risk Management and Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Generally, 3 to 6 years of related experience, including Criminal Investigation or Fraud Detection experience.
  • Ability for overnight travel.
  • This job is non-exempt in California and Washington

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designation (i.e., Certified Fraud Examiner, Private Investigator license, etc.) from a recognized National Investigation Organization or State Agency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Detects and prevents fraudulent claims through meticulous investigation and analysis.
  • Gathers and analyzes data to identify inconsistencies, potential fraud, and the overall legitimacy of claims.
  • Prepares comprehensive reports summarizing investigation findings and recommends claim approval or denial.
  • Ensures claims are settled accurately and fairly, minimizing fraudulent activities and protecting the company’s financial interests.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of investigation processes and techniques, enhancing overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
