About The Position

Boston College is seeking a Special Assistant to the Dean of Strategic Initiatives for the Clough School of Theology and Ministry (CSTM). This role is key in advancing the CSTM by strengthening pastoral support and programs for students, contributing to strategic planning for global initiatives, and collaborating with the leadership team. The position ensures the CSTM's commitment to academic, pastoral, spiritual, and human formation, fostering an inclusive environment. It also supports student recruitment, retention, and professional development, acting as a primary liaison with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston and university-wide programs. The role involves managing an Assistant Program Director for a grant program, bridging admissions and student affairs, and serving as a project manager for student formation initiatives. The Special Assistant will also maintain a portfolio of strategic initiatives, including the Global Theological Initiative.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, higher education, or a closely related field
• Two (2) years of experience in ministry, higher education, or social work
• 2 years of experience applying Jesuit teachings and mission as a teacher or missionary
• 2 years of experience performing project management for Jesuit and Catholic educational programs
• 2 years of experience establishing and managing fundraising programs
• 2 years of experience developing, monitoring, and enhancing training programs

Responsibilities

• Strengthen the pastoral support, programs, and services integral to the success of all students
• Contribute to strategic planning for and execution of global initiatives
• Collaborate with the leadership/administrative team that manages the CSTM
• Ensure the CSTM’s commitment to the four dimensions of formation (academic, pastoral, spiritual, and human) to meet the needs of a diverse student body and foster an inclusive environment of holistic learning
• Support the attraction, recruitment, retention, academic, and professional development of all CSTM student populations
• Serve as the primary liaison for the CSTM with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston (RCAB), and on University-wide programs and initiatives
• Serve as member of Lead Team and manage Assistant Program Director for grant program
• Work closely with the Dean and Associate Deans on strategic planning, external relations, and as a bridge between admissions and student affairs, ensuring students have the resources needed for holistic formation through the student life cycle
• Serve as a project manager for existing initiatives related to student formation and success, ensuring that existing and future initiatives are prioritized
• Maintain a portfolio that includes specifically assigned strategic initiatives including the Global Theological Initiative of the seven English-speaking schools of theology of the Society of Jesus and other related initiatives in development
