This position performs daily activities for cleaning, decontamination, packaging, sterilizing and storing of surgical instruments and supplies. It also maintains inventory levels and ensures proper care and operation of equipment, modeling appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution
  • Must be competent to perform all job functions by the end of orientation.
  • Ability to understand and perform basic principles of infection control and aseptic technique.
  • Exhibit manual dexterity and speed in performing assembly line tasks.
  • Ability to communicate promptly, clearly and accurately in both written and oral form.
  • Ability to organize tasks and maintain control of work flow.
  • Work requires the ability to read and understand complex instructions and perform basic arithmetic calculations.

Nice To Haves

  • No prior work experience
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique, sterilization techniques, infection control requirements, and surgical procedures and instruments is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs activities for the decontamination, assembly, packaging, processing, and sterilization of surgical instruments according to standards.
  • Stocks and replenishes supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains and ensures adherence to the sterile field by applying principles of aseptic techniques in accordance with regulatory guidelines and infection control procedures.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
