SPD Process Tech -FT, Evenings (Tues-Sat) TJUH
About The Position
This is a full-time evening position for an SPD Process Tech at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. The role involves the decontamination, tray assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments for the Operating Room and other departments. The technician will be responsible for cleaning, disassembling, sorting, decontaminating, reassembling, packaging, and sterilizing reusable surgical instrumentation according to manufacturer guidelines and departmental policies. They will operate automated washers, cart washers, ultrasonic washers, and sterilizers safely and efficiently, and use the Abacus Instrument Tracking System for assembling surgical trays and peel-pouched items. Good communication skills are essential for interacting with internal and external customers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of certified sterile processing technician training program.
- CRCST certification required.
- Provisional CRCST certification not accepted.
Responsibilities
- Cleans, disassembles, sorts, decontaminates, reassembles, packages and sterilizes reusable surgical instrumentation following manufacturer’s guidelines and departmental policy and procedure.
- Operates automated washers, cart washers, ultrasonic washers, and sterilizers in a safe and efficient manner following manufacturers’ written instructions and department policy and procedure.
- Uses the Abacus Instrument Tracking System in the assembly of surgical trays and peel pouched items.
- Demonstrates good communication skills, verbal and non-verbal, when interacting with internal and external customers.
