Part-Time Spanish Tutor - High School Level

Teacher Tutors•Montclair, NJ

About The Position

Teacher Tutors is hiring part-time Spanish tutors to support high school students across all levels, from foundational Spanish through honors and AP coursework. Tutors should be confident with Spanish I–IV, AP Spanish Language and Culture, AP Spanish Literature and Culture, and, where applicable, heritage-speaker support. The role involves working one-on-one with students and tailoring instruction to their courses, teachers’ expectations, and learning goals. Sessions may take place in students’ homes, at a library, at the company’s Livingston, New Jersey office, or online. Most clients prefer in-person tutoring. Tutors specify their preferred travel radius, and the company matches them with families within that range. The position offers a flexible basis for scheduling, with availability needed for afternoon, evening, or weekend hours during the school year and additional capacity around exam season and finals. Tutors prepare individualized lessons and materials, develop students’ skills in reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, vocabulary, and cultural understanding, track progress, and adjust instruction as needed. They submit a short note after each session, raise concerns to the Director, communicate with parents, and contribute to shared team practices. The pay range is $40–$50 per hour, based on degree and experience. Most part-time tutors join as W-2 employees; tutors may optionally work as 1099 contractors if they carry their own professional liability insurance and operate through a registered LLC. The company provides liability coverage during sessions for W-2 employees. The service area is northern New Jersey, with most in-home sessions in Essex, Morris, Union, and Bergen counties.
