About The Position

Rise Academy is a small, tuition-free private high school serving the East End of Richmond, VA. We are mission-driven, relationship-centered, and deeply committed to preparing our students for success in college, career and life. With small class sizes, a supportive team, and a strong focus on student growth, Rise Academy is a place where teachers can innovate, lead, and inspire. We are seeking a dynamic, creative educator to teach, in-person, in the area of Spanish. While our top priority is meeting our students' graduation requirements, we are open to candidates who can bring unique skills and passion to our program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, World Language, Education, or a related field
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing a foreign language
  • Prior experience teaching high school students
  • Strong classroom management and interpersonal communication skills
  • Alignment with the mission and values of Rise Academy

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching license or certification in foreign language (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience in a private, charter, or mission-based school

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons
  • Build strong relationships with students, inspiring them to achieve their personal best
  • Integrate technology and real-world applications into instruction
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and rigorous learning environment
  • Assess and track student progress, providing timely feedback and support
  • Develop and implement engaging, standards-based Spanish I, II, and possibly III or IV lesson plans for grades 9–12.
  • Foster listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Spanish using immersive and communicative strategies.
  • Incorporate cultural knowledge to deepen students’ global understanding and appreciation for the Spansish speaking world.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning styles and needs.
  • Develops pupil understanding and appreciation of culture of countries where the studied language is spoken.
  • Assess and monitor student progress regularly and communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
  • Integrate technology and real-world experiences into classroom instruction.
  • Maintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environment that supports student growth.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
  • Collaborate with with colleagues to support interdisciplinary projects and school culture.
