Collaboration is central to our approach, especially in our dual language immersion program for grades 1-5, where students alternate days between English and Target Language classrooms. Teacher teams, composed of English and Spanish teachers, share responsibility for teaching curriculum that promotes students’ social, emotional, and academic growth in both languages. This structure necessitates daily communication for lesson planning and student progress discussions, alongside weekly meetings with grade-level and language colleagues. This specific position is a leave replacement for Grade 1, Lower Division, with an approximate duration from October 2026 to February 2027, subject to some flexibility.

Requirements

  • Full fluency in Spanish and experience in immersion teaching.
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience in grades K-6 with a proven track record of student learning.
  • Strong understanding of instructional skills teaching through a balanced literacy approach in the reading and writing workshop model.
  • Experience with problem-based mathematics instruction.
  • Highly effective collaborator, eager to listen deeply, contribute to a team and achieve goals together.
  • Deep dedication to learning and growing as an educator.
  • Respect for, and appreciation of, a diverse community of learners, families and colleagues.
  • Ability to embrace change and consider new perspectives.
  • Candidates with diverse backgrounds encouraged to apply.
