About The Position
ACCEL Schools is hiring a Spanish Teacher at West Park Bilingual Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. The role is dedicated to providing a superior education for students through engaging instruction, a positive classroom environment, and support for students’ academic and social-emotional development. West Park Bilingual Academy serves families throughout West Cleveland with a college-preparatory program emphasizing hands-on, project-based learning and bilingual instruction. Founded in 2013, the school prioritizes students’ social and emotional well-being and embraces the values of Community, Integrity, Resilience, and Excellence. It is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving K–12 students across the United States. The teacher prepares and delivers lessons, differentiates instruction, tracks student progress, manages classroom behavior, communicates with families, and collaborates with colleagues. The role also includes contributing to non-instructional activities as needed and carrying out other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Active and current State of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to properly manage confidential information.
- Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
- Experience working within an urban environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as needed during the school year.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom.
- Create a positive classroom environment that supports student learning.
- Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
- Communicate and meet with families about their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
- Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
- Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
