About The Position

Civic Memorial High School is seeking a dedicated Spanish Teacher for the 2027–28 school year. This full-time position focuses on fostering students’ interest in Spanish language and culture through engaging instruction and an inclusive classroom environment. The teacher will support learners at various proficiency levels and contribute to student success and broader school activities.

Requirements

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an appropriate Secondary Education (Grades 9–12) endorsement in World Language-Spanish.
Valid teaching certification in Spanish for secondary education.
Strong proficiency in Spanish and English, with excellent communication skills.
Ability to create engaging lesson plans and adapt teaching methods for diverse learners.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful learning environment.
Passion for promoting cultural understanding and appreciation among students.

Nice To Haves

Previous teaching experience, preferably in a high school setting.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and diverse learning styles.
Teach Spanish reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills across proficiency levels.
Create a supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation and cultural appreciation.
Assess student progress through quizzes, tests, and assignments, and provide constructive feedback.
Collaborate with educators and staff to integrate Spanish language and culture into school activities and programs.
Organize and participate in Spanish-related extracurricular activities, including clubs, events, and field trips.
Communicate with students, parents, and administrators about academic performance and classroom behavior.
Stay current with language-instruction practices and participate in professional development.
