Furthermore, as an IB World School, BELA seeks educators who are excited to engage in inquiry-based instruction, interdisciplinary learning, and ongoing professional growth through IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) training and implementation. Teachers are expected to actively participate in curriculum development, collaborative planning, assessment creation, and professional learning experiences that support high-quality IB instruction. This is a full-time position with an anticipated start date of mid-August 2026. Teachers and staff members at BELA will: Create inspiring, challenging, and effective teaching and learning experiences for all students Collaborate with fellow teachers, students, and school leadership Share in the leadership of the school by taking on essential responsibilities that supports the school’s learning environment culture Support operational responsibilities such as arrival, dismissal, lunch, and hallway supervision. Lead or support school wide initiatives or committees Support student recruitment events, open houses, Buddy Days, and family engagement events Support Regents, IB, or state testing coordination and proctoring responsibilities Participate in school-wide coverage responsibilities Be committed to serving all students, including Students with Disabilities and English Language Learners, within inclusive classroom settings using a variety of inclusion models Become part of a strong and supportive professional learning community Enjoy and thrive in the lively and diverse world of urban adolescent young women while striving to create a model of public education that serves them well Design, facilitate, and participate in experiences and conversations related to race, gender, class, and identity in ways that empower students and foster community Participate in the school’s annual overnight camping trip and service days at the start of the school year Participate in annual curriculum nights, student-led conferences, and staff meetings Engage in ongoing IB professional development, including required MYP and/or DP trainings, collaborative curriculum planning, interdisciplinary unit development, and IB assessment calibration sessions Implement instructional practices aligned to the IB Learner Profile, Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, inquiry-based instruction, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
