About The Position

The Compass School is seeking a RI Certified Middle School Spanish Teacher. Ideally, this candidate also holds a MLL Certificate in order to provide MLL services aligned with student needs identified by the Access test. This job is offered ideally as a combined .8 position. Spanish Teacher = .6 and MLL Instructor = .2 FTE. If an interested/qualified candidate does not yet hold a MLL certification, he/she should still apply. The Compass School is comprised of 220 students and serves students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The most qualified candidate will be able to relate well to a broad age range and his/her "teaching toolbox" and skills will span those grade levels.

Requirements

• RI Certified Middle School Spanish Teacher
• MLL Certificate (preferred, but will consider candidates without)
• Ability to relate well to a broad age range (K-8)
• Teaching skills that span K-8 grade levels

Responsibilities

• Provide Spanish Instruction to 7th and 8th grade students
• Provide MLL services aligned with student needs identified by the Access test.
• Complete case management and MLL compliance responsibilities as directed by the Director of Student Services.
• Attend and participate in IEP meetings for English Learners as directed by the Director of Student Services.
• Implement curricula and activities to meet academic and language acquisition standards
• Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic and language acquisition standards
• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices
• Participate in the collaborative curriculum development process
• Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic and language acquisition standards
