Spanish Immersion Teacher After-School Enrichment Program
About The Position
Creative STEAM Academy is seeking a creative, energetic, and passionate Spanish Immersion Teacher to lead its after-school Spanish enrichment program. The program focuses on teaching Spanish in a fun, engaging, and hands-on manner through project-based learning, art, theatre, sports, games, movement, creativity, and real-life conversation, rather than traditional worksheet-based methods. The goal is for students to learn Spanish naturally through immersion, meaningful activities, and joyful participation, encouraging them to speak, listen, create, play, build, act, move, and use Spanish in real-life contexts. The program runs Monday through Thursday from 2:15 PM to 4:00 PM, with each day having a different focus, but all classes are taught primarily in Spanish to build confidence, vocabulary, listening skills, comprehension, and conversational fluency. Students will work on hands-on projects and skill-building activities in a Spanish-speaking-only classroom, focusing on natural language use while completing tasks, collaborating, problem-solving, and communicating. Activities include storytelling, acting, skits, role-play, songs, and dramatic activities, with the aim of helping students speak confidently through fun, expressive, and creative means. Students will also create art projects while learning and using Spanish vocabulary related to their creations.
Requirements
- Fluent or highly proficient in Spanish
- Creative, energetic, warm, and enthusiastic
- Passionate about teaching Spanish through immersion, movement, creativity, and hands-on learning
- Experienced working with children
- Comfortable leading art, theatre, sports, games, group activities, and project-based lessons
- Able to make Spanish feel fun, natural, and accessible for students
- Strong at keeping students engaged, motivated, and on task
- Patient, positive, reliable, and professional
- Able to create an immersive Spanish-speaking environment in a fun and age-appropriate way
Nice To Haves
- Teaching experience, tutoring experience, or classroom experience preferred
- Teaching Credential
- Experience with Spanish immersion or bilingual education is a plus
- Experience with art, theatre, sports, games, music, movement, or project-based learning is a plus
- Experience working with homeschool, private school, or enrichment programs is a plus
Responsibilities
- Plan and lead engaging Spanish immersion lessons for elementary and middle school students
- Create a fun, welcoming, active, and structured classroom environment
- Use Spanish as the primary language of instruction
- Teach vocabulary and conversation through art, theatre, sports, games, songs, movement, hands-on projects, and real-life experiences
- Design creative, project-based activities that encourage students to use Spanish naturally
- Help students develop confidence speaking, listening, and understanding Spanish
- Prepare simple materials and activities for each class
- Keep students engaged, excited, and participating
- Manage student behavior in a positive and professional way
- Communicate with the Creative STEAM Academy team as needed
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and encouraging learning environment
