About The Position

This position is responsible for providing educational support for students in the Spanish dual-language program. This position may assist in multiple grades and classrooms throughout the week. Position is responsible for assisting classroom teachers in establishing a classroom environment that ensures learning and personal growth of every student, establishing effective rapport with students, and motivating students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for becoming a responsible citizen in accordance with each student’s ability. This position assists with instruction in a classroom which could include students with educational risk factors as well as students with special needs. The ability to form relationships with a wide variety of students and families is essential. Being able to receive guidance from the classroom teacher on how to differentiate instruction for a wide range of developmental needs is required. This position may work with students in whole group, small group, and individually on academic tasks assigned by the teacher. This position may be assigned to student supervision duties including but not limited to lunchroom supervision and added support for certified staff members during recess duty. Additionally, they may be assigned to support the building office staff as needed. This position reports to the building administrator.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and a high degree of cultural competency.
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High degree of confidentiality, motivation, and responsibility.
  • Demonstrated ability in analyzing, compiling, and organizing data.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Highly collaborative team player.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results.

Responsibilities

  • Assess student aptitude to support student progress and learning needs.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers to meet instructional needs.
  • Coordinates with building principal to determine which students should be in small groups.
  • Gathers lesson materials and instructs students with support from classroom teachers.
  • Meets with students for the purpose of working on specific areas of need.
  • May be assigned to lunchroom, recess and other student supervision duties as needed.
  • May be assigned to support the building office staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
