The Mid Career Spaceflight Hardware Propulsion Engineer supports NASA deep-space exploration programs by applying engineering principles to propulsion and spacecraft pressure systems. The role independently performs or leads analyses, develops and validates engineering models and data-processing tools, evaluates system architectures, documents technical assumptions and limitations, and assesses component- and system-level effects in the vehicle context. The engineer provides technical oversight throughout propulsion hardware development, including design reviews, supplier activities, fabrication, assembly, testing, integration, operation, and certification. Responsibilities include planning and evaluating tests, reviewing acceptance and qualification evidence, investigating anomalies and nonconformances, recommending issue dispositions and risk mitigations, and coordinating closure of technical and certification actions. The position also supports pressure-system safety, cleanliness, contamination control, spacecraft and test-vehicle integration, mission simulations, vehicle checkouts, propulsion console operations, and flight support. The engineer coordinates with NASA organizations, suppliers, contractors, and other partners; communicates status and risks to stakeholders; and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced engineers. Travel may be required.
