About The Position

Amentum is hiring a mid-career Spaceflight Hardware Propulsion Engineer for the JETSII Contract, supporting NASA’s deep-space exploration work. The engineer applies fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, materials, structures, and machine-design principles to propulsion and spacecraft pressure systems, and independently performs or leads analyses, modeling, trade studies, hardware development, testing, integration, and certification activities. The role includes technical oversight of components, suppliers, and hardware-development work; evaluating engineering and test evidence; investigating anomalies and nonconformances; and developing recommendations for issue disposition and risk mitigation. The engineer coordinates technical work with NASA program and project offices, spacecraft organizations, suppliers, contractors, and international partners. The position may involve mission simulations, vehicle checkouts, propulsion console operations, and flight support, as well as travel to supplier, test, integration, launch, or program locations. Work is generally performed in an office environment but may also involve indoor or outdoor work depending on the task. The employee must maintain regular attendance and may need to work outside the normal schedule during peak periods or surge requirements. The position typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5–10 years of related experience. Salary starts at $98,500, with final pay based on experience, skills, and qualifications. Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required, and candidates must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Ability to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency may be required.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with the established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside the normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
