The Spaceflight Hardware Propulsion Engineer supports NASA as an Oceaneering teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science II (JETS II) contract, within the Power and Propulsion Projects section of the Engineering Department. The role contributes to human spaceflight and deep-space exploration programs and may be hired at any level in the professional career framework, depending on business needs. International travel may be required. Possible straight-time overtime and a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off) are noted. The engineer applies engineering principles to propulsion and spacecraft pressure systems, performs or leads analyses, develops and validates models and analysis tools, evaluates system architectures, and communicates analysis assumptions, methods, results, and limitations. The position provides technical oversight through hardware design, supplier activities, fabrication, assembly, testing, integration, certification, and operation. It also supports technical issue investigations, safety and contamination-control assessments, verification, and formal certification. The role coordinates technical work with NASA organizations, spacecraft teams, suppliers, contractors, and international partners; tracks reviews, issues, risks, and action items; and presents technical status and recommendations to stakeholders. It may include mission simulations, vehicle checkouts, propulsion console operations, flight support, mentoring, and travel to supplier, test, integration, launch, or program locations. Work may take place in office, laboratory, supplier, integration, and mission-operations environments.
