About The Position

KBR's National Security Solutions team is seeking a Spacecraft Operations Technician to join their team supporting Ground and Payload Systems. This role is crucial for protecting national security and involves working on innovative projects at the forefront of engineering, logistics, operations, science, program management, mission IT, and cybersecurity solutions. Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • A minimum of 2 Years of relevant experience with a completed High School diploma or equivalent; OR 0 Years of relevant experience with a completed associate’s degree.
  • Ability to distinguish the difference between colors on a computer monitor (specifically red, blue, and green).
  • Willingness and ability to work multiple shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as overtime.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 Years of relevant experience with a completed Associate’s degree; OR 0 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience conducting satellite operations with the Satellite Control Network in a real-time operations environment.
  • Experience monitoring the activities of satellites.
  • Familiarity with satellite ground systems, including hardware, software, and communications architecture.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, demonstrated by frequent and successful application of technical standards, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Familiar with UNIX and Windows-based computer systems.
  • Ability to create and follow standard processes and document results.
  • Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interface effectively with users, customers, management, and engineering personnel.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable using intercom systems, in addition to phone systems, as a frequent medium for communications.

Responsibilities

  • Test and perform on-console activities involving satellite operations during launch and early orbit support or long-term operations.
  • Plan, set up, and configure ground communication support.
  • Develop, validate, and execute pass plans.
  • Monitor and review telemetry, advise leads and/or management of failures and degradation, and advise leads or management of predefined recovery procedures.
  • Establish voice, messaging, and data communications for multiple-satellite programs of varying priorities and classifications.
  • Troubleshoot end-to-end communication issues.
  • Configure and monitor displays for computer and network equipment during normal mission operations.
  • Perform multi-program coordination and scheduling using COTS software tools.
  • Determine any anomalous conditions and provide corrective actions as required.
  • Generate downtime reports and other associated documentation for operational outages.
  • Support various operations status, engineering review, and problem boards.
  • Identify areas of concern, issues, inefficiencies, and other non-value-added activities, and recommend solutions.
